SAI KAUSTUV'S STORY

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE, NOTHING TO WORRY!

Me Sai Kaustuv Dasgupta. belonged from Siliguri, which is a scenic place, with the mighty Himalayas guarding it on the north and east and the majestic Ganga following across the land in the south.  The land is fertile and the people are calm, hardworking and happy. The characteristics of this beautiful land helped to shape my character and creativity.  Music is in the air and the rustle of the leaves provides accompaniment.

It was therefore natural that I became a singer and a composer at an early age and later became a graphic designer as well. I was fortunate that my talent was recognised at an early age and I received the DISHARI AWARD for the Best Child Singer of West Bengal in the year 1999-2000. As a child singer, I got many opportunities to sing before famous singers and I am blessed to have received affectionate appreciation from legendary musicians like Ustad Rasid Khan, Anuradha Poudwal, Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota and many others, in my childhood.

I was born a normal child in 1991, and as a toddler the moment I would see a dance, I would pick up those steps quickly. But around this time my bone also fractured every now and then. Actually my first fracture happened when I was just three and half months old. By the time I was a year old I had suffered three fractures! My parents consulted orthopaedic specialists, after examining me thoroughly they said I suffering from a disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. This is an extremely rare condition that happens to one in 20,000 births. It is also called 'brittle bone disease’.”

By the grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, at present I am living at His abode of Supreme Peace, Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh), with my parents Kausik and Shila Dasgupta and brother Kushal Dasgupta. I am currently attached to the Radiosai team as a volunteer graphic designer. I am deeply grateful to Bhagawan for giving me the opportunity of being a team member of Radiosai and spread His message and Love through my graphic designs, which are inspired by Him and which bring smiles on every face all round the world.

It has been a long journey for me from the green paddy fields and tea gardens of North Bengal to the fertile Chitravathi valley surrounded by the barren hills of South Andhra Pradesh. The journey has been full of ordeals and struggles, but it was worthwhile, for I met Bhagawan and learnt to love Him. My life became meaningful. Now I had learnt to differentiate between the trivial and the real, between the instrument and the composer and between the temporary and permanent.
